UBITECH participates at the virtual kick-off meeting hosted by ICCS-NTUA (November 9-10, 2020) of the Int5Gent Innovation Action, officially started on November 1st, 2020. The project is funded by European Commission under Horizon 2020 Programme (Grant Agreement No. 957403) and spans on the period November 2020 – October 2023. The Int5Gent targets the integration of innovative data plane technology building blocks under a flexible 5G network resource, slice and application orchestration framework, providing a complete 5G system platform for the validation of advance 5G services and IoT solutions. The project builds upon a suite of innovative 5G technological solutions spanning hardware, software, and networking systems that have been conceptualized and developed under the latest 5GPPP initiative projects and are now taken to TRL-7 and above. It also combines novel and state-of-the-art solutions able to further upgrade the capabilities and maturity level of cutting-edge 5G core technologies enabling the creation of an innovative 5G ecosystem. A sample of the developed and offered technologies include flexible multi-RAT baseband signal processing, beam steering, mmWave technology solutions at 60GHz and 150GHz bands, hardware-based edge processor with TSN, GPU processing capabilities, innovative 5G terminals and elastic SDN-based photonic data transport. The integration of the technology blocks is performed as part of an overall 5G architecture that promotes edge processing and is orchestrated by an NFVO compatible framework with edge node extensions at the network layer and an overlay vertical services application orchestrator at the user plane layer. Within Int5Gent, UBITECH undertakes the role of the overall technical coordination and drives the architectural design of the complete 5G system architecture spanning from the data to control and user plane. Moreover, UBITECH delivers an upgraded Vertical Application Orchestrator that incorporates: the registration and lifecycle management of services/functions through adaptive application graphs, and the deployment of services through slice instantiation requests in compliance to the MANO slice manager. Special emphasis will be given in the development and integration of engines for data analytics related to resource usage and optimization options as well as the visualization of results through dashboard. In addition, two user level interfaces are implemented, namely: a VAO-GUI for the interaction of the service providers, application component developers and service function end users with the VAO, and a Data Analytics Dashboard for providing monitoring and control information to the infrastructure owner and service providers.
